~Egg Nog Teacakes~
This is my way of saluting the end of the holiday season and saying good-bye until next year to Egg Nog... The best thing about the holidays are the festive foods and drink that you can only have during that time, my favorite is Turner's Boiled Custard but my mother is a fan of the Egg Nogg... I can't see how anyone drinks that stuff but any who, I do however try to incorporate in all my baking, from cookies to cakes... And my absolute favorite is the Egg Nogg Teacakes, the recipe called for buttermilk but I remixed it and added it making the cookies even better than before. Its a really old school snack cookie with a cake like texture, my grandmother used to make them but not one of my aunts and my mother knew her recipe, she was one of those know everything measure with her hands and a coffee cup kind of cooks.
Egg Nog Teacakes
1 heaping cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
2 tablespoons Egg Nogg
1 tablesppon Buttermilk
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 sticks butter, at room temp
1 teaspoon baking soda
3 cups All Purpose flour
1 teaspoon vanilla
1)Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2)Cream butter and sugar; add eggs.
3)In a serperate bowl, mix together egg nog, milk and vanilla.
To the first mixture, add milk and vanilla mixture alternating with the dry ingredients, starting and ending with the dry mixture until just combined.
4)Drop by tablespoons onto a parchment lined pan. Flatten slightly and sprinkle with sugar and nutmeg.
5) Bake for 8-13 minutes depends on how large they are. I use regular spoons and it takes about 7-8 minutes to bake.
Makes about 5 dozen

Chalkboard Nails: Watercolor Nails
Chalkboard Nails: Watercolor Nails: Chalkboard Nails has some of the most epic nail art tutorials on her blog but this one is indeed the most awesome!!! I love love love color, I admit I have a rainbow obsession and this tutorial is like the most elegant way to wear the rainbow everywhere... Along with another Chalkboard Nails: Cool-toned splatter this one would be really cool with a glow in the dark base if your going out to a club...

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
I'm a fanatic for movies especially if they have a unique twist to them and I've heard a lot of good things about the book but I haven't had the chance to read it yet. I really want to see it, my mom God bless found copy of the European version with subtitles, I liked it alright but its hard to get into a movie with subtitles because your focusing on reading instead of the actual movie. I can't wait until Dec. 21 to see the movie and upon my surfing the net, I discovered H&M will offer Dragon Tattoo Collection by Trish Summerville, which is a collection based of the main character Lisbeth Salander and her look is all about edgy. I loved her look and of course I'm giddy about the collection but upon veiwing it I saw a lot of DIY elements, which means future projects to try. Lots of layering, shredded tshirts, a denim vest, leather jacket, skinny leather jeans/jeggings, scarfs, and then tons of hoodies, all distressed and in shades of grays and black. I love it but I have a few pieces that I could use to mimic the style some. Thrift shops, second hand stores and Goodwill have an over abundance of denim and denim jackets, and if your really luckythere may be a denim vest or two. You could probably find some distressed clothes as well or if your into buying brand new, distress it yourself there are tons of tutorials online, use it on a shirt or hoodie and your jeans. And I know of a few tutorial videos on Youtube, like Coolirpa's How to Shred a Knit Shirt (http://youtu.be/iJUXK07kXiQ) and making a "scoodie" (http://youtu.be/n6ghpwy6xik) by my favorite DIYers from Threadbangers they have awesome ideas! T- shirt Scarf~madness
I was browsing around Facebook one day last wk and I saw a link about the new fad t-shirt scarves. I went to http://myblessedlife.net/2011/10/t-shirt-scarf-tutorial.html and saw that the owner, Myra, gave an example of The Top 10 styles along with the tutorials. I just had to try one out and so I attempted #10 The Ringlet Scarf (http://www.kevinandamanda.com/whatsnew/crafts-projects/make-this-quick-n-easy-ringlet-t-shirt-scarf.html) I really enjoy this project and think it would make cute christmas gifts this year, for some of the few I have no idea what to get. These make cute accessories and they're handmade so that makes it more of a thoughtful gift. I'd get oohs and aaahs for sure. So here's how mine turned out.
I'm very happy with it, I went to the Mission House and found tshirts that were a bit worn and stained(recycle). I plan to make more and try all the different varieties.
